A Wikkelboat is a tiny houseboat that is multifunctional and sustainable. On a Wikkelboat you can relax and spend the night, but you can also have (business) meetings there. Experience how a tiny houseboat, despite or perhaps because of the limited space, inspires you to think differently about living, working and the amount of really necessary items. On a Wikkelboat, you lack nothing and sit in iconic city locations on the water. unique experience guaranteed!

The top of the boat is wrapped in 24 layers of corrugated cardboard, making the boat not only very light but also well insulated in terms of sound and temperature! Wrapped around that, you’ll find a kind of raincoat and then, around the raincoat, is a wooden cover or solar panels. The bottom is made of aluminum or concrete and this also includes the air conditioning, water drainage and (in most Wikkelboats) a cellar.

It is not possible to sail with it (in this case, not for guests), but you can usually easily rent a boat / pedal boat / SUP with us to explore the area!

Yes, of course! The Wikkelboats are ideal for an inspiring meeting, a wedding or small-scale events. Also think of a team building workshop, a meeting or product presentation. Wikkelboats can accommodate up to 12 (and for Nos. 4 and 5 in Rijnhaven as many as 20) people per boat.

When it comes to business opportunities, guests can meet with us and have a drink on the jetty with up to 50 people. However, through our partnership with theater LantarenVenster & Theater Walhalla, plenary sessions of up to 250 people are also possible

Facilities such as coffee, tea, (tap) water, a drink, a beamer with screen, flipchart, conference speaker, lunch, large conference table and chairs can be booked.

Catering such as an extensive lunch consisting of a mix of, among other things, fresh sandwiches, fruit, fresh fruit juices and sweets can be provided on request.

No, Wikkelboats are not suitable for this and this is also strictly enforced. In case of violation, the deposit may be withheld and the stay may be terminated early.

Unregistered guests are also illegal without prior approval from the management team. These must be taken along as guests when booking, unless explicit permission has been given for this.

Smoking is prohibited inside, outside on the terrace/jetty smoking is allowed as long as the available ashtrays are used.

That’s unfortunate! Aren’t you getting anything on the dates you entered? Then we indeed have no more availability or we use a stay of at least two nights during that period. Is everything really ful? Then you can also check if there is still availability on our Coaster, a very cool historic ship in the middle of the city.

First of all: the unique atmosphere on the water in combination with a minimalistic design of your tiny house boat… that will automatically bring a smile to your face 🙂

You cherish an experience on one of our Wikkelboats, but of course we can give you some tips on what to do. Check our (online) welcome guide/web app for tips for the location you have booked.

This is possible from €129 per night if you stay several nights as a couple during the low season during the week. If you only stay 1 night – actually too short to really fully relax – you can do so starting at €189. If you opt for a stay with a jacuzzi, it is at least €40 more expensive. If you stay with more than 2 persons, you pay a supplement of €35-45 per person per night extra. That is because of additional consumption of water & energy & linen + cleaning and maintenance. Also, of course, we then ensure that extra beds etc. are prepared.

We work with flex prices, that is, based on supply & demand we automatically increase or decrease the price. Compare it to airline prices; in high season and on weekends/ holidays and days with major events, prices are higher. Are you flexible? Then book on a Sunday or Monday, which are generally the cheapest days of the week!

Each of our Wikkelboats are located in unique locations in or against popular city centers. However, each location has its own charm. In addition, there are usually different types of Wikkelboats per locations.

In Den Bosch, our two Wikkelboats are located in a unique spot along the trendy Tramkade. Here you can sometimes – especially in summer during festival weekends – be bothered by the festivals around it, just google Tramkade events to search for the dates you want. Of course it is also fun to visit the festival and chill out on your Wikkelboat afterwards! Both Wikkelboats here have an underdeck jacuzzi and a lovely lounge sofa on the terrace. Add to that a visit to a very cozy town: really a must in terms of location!

In Rotterdam we have two locations, both in relatively quiet places in the city. At both locations you can easily take a Watertaxi around the corner to explore the rest of the city!

@ Sloepenhaven The Red Apple Marina in the Maritime District with its many skyscrapers and historic harbours, in the middle of the city opposite Blaak station! Both Wikkelboats have a Jacuzzi on the terrace, at Wikkelboat1 it is at the front on the street side and at Wikkelboat 2 on the water side. The rental of Nr2 also includes the use of 2 StarkDrive e-bikes.

@ Floating Rotterdam Rijnhaven: At this unique location at the Kop van Zuid/Katendrecht you will be lying in the middle of the water. Here you can gently dance along with the waves, guaranteed a holiday feeling and wonderful sleep! You won’t find a more iconic Rotterdam view. On Wikkelboat No. 3 and No. 5, there is an under-deck concealed Jacuzzi. No. 4 and No. 5 are much bigger than the other 3. At No. 5 there is even an extra room so that you can stay here with 9 people!

Our Wikkelboats are used in many ways: during the day as a base for (sports) activities on the water and meetings, in the evening for overnight stays. That is why the regular check-in time is quite late, i.e. at 4 or 5 pm, depending on the chosen boat. It is usually possible to book an early check-in (from 1:30pm) and also a late check-out until 12:30pm for a small supplement (€35-45), so do so as early as possible so we can keep your boat free for this. If you just want to drop your luggage before 16/17h, please contact us as we have luggage lockers and/or basements to keep it for a while. Completely free of charge 🙂

Yes! We ensure that on your Wikkelboat for the number of people you booked bedding and 1 large + 1 small towel are present. In addition, we ensure that basic necessities such as kitchen and toilet paper, dishwasher cubes, olive oil, salt & pepper, coffee and tea are present.

For direct bookings, the following cancellation conditions apply: If the cancellation occurs up to one week before the scheduled date, no fee will be charged. In case of cancellation between four and seven days before the scheduled date, 50% of the agreed amount will be credited.

• Rotterdam-Wijnhaven: inexpensive and nearby parking under the Markthal – register online at www.parkereninmarkthal.nl well in advance from €17.50 per 24 hours or during the day from €10. If you have a van or need to park very close, you can use our own web app (after booking) to register your car license plate (max. 1 per stay) for cheaper street parking a €20 per day (effective per check-in time and stops pe check-out time).
• Rotterdam-Rijnhaven: inexpensive and nearby parking under the World Port Center – when registering online at www.parkerenkopvanzuid.nl well in advance from €17.50 per 24 hours or during the day from €10. If you have a van or need to park very close, you can park on the street in front of Hotel New York, this costs €4.20 per hour and max. €25 per day.
• Den Bosch: By car you can get to (the entrance of) the municipal parking lot at Veemarktweg or Costa del Silo (use google maps) to drop luggage or park directly there which costs a maximum of €15 per day. From there it is a 1-minute walk. If this area is closed (sometimes events take place in this area), you can park in the 3 parking lots of the Verkade Factory (P1, P2 and P3). The rate is € 1.95/hour. Alternative is to park on the street at the beginning of the Tramkade, about 200 meters walk to our Wikkelboats. The advantage of the latter option is that parking there is free from 6 pm and on Sundays and holidays. Free parking is available across the Binnen-Dieze in the area of the Gamma, about a 10-minute walk.

Each Wikkelboat offers excellent privacy inside and partly outside. Keep in mind, however, that they are in or near city centers and so you will have passersby and people living around them. During the day between 10-15h the cellars of Wikkelboat nr 2 in the Rijnhaven and the one in Den Bosch are used by ourselves and our cleaning team to pack stuff. You won’t notice much of this but it does mean that you will see us passing by regularly. 😉

Of course there is a lot to see and do in the city, but you might also like to do something in the immediate vicinity of our Wikkelboats. Then we advise you to check out https://www.denbosch.nl/nl/projects/spoorzone/de-tramkade for our location in Den Bosch or https://www.uitagendarotterdam.nl/ for fun activities in Rotterdam. However, around our Wikkelboats you can also have great fun on the water; we rent out boats, sups, kyaks and the uber cool Schiller Pedalos. All our water sports activities in the Rijnhaven can be found here and of course you can also use these if you are staying at our other location in the Wijnhaven. In the Wijnhaven you can also rent a pedal boat, just like in Den Bosch. In Den Bosch we also have two SUPs to explore the area with. As a guest you can easily book these activities from our web app – where you also do the online check-in etc.

Unfortunately, we do not sell Wikkelboats. It is also virtually impossible to get a berth for these. Are you interested in buying a Wraphouse for on land? More than welcome to contact our partner Wikkelhouse!

No, we only allow online bookings prior to stay. You can pay with virtually any digital payment method.

This is only available at our locations in the Rotterdam Wijnhaven and in Den Bosch and is subject to a supplement of €20. Boat length is max 10 meters and you must book this in advance with us.

We would love to say yes, but unfortunately it is not very wheelchair friendly. Only our Rijnhaven location is wheelchair friendly, but in the Wikkelboat itself there is a threshold to the narrow bathroom door, which makes it difficult for disabled people. Bathroom is impossible to enter by wheelchair. Coming to the Rijnhaven with a wheelchair? If so, please notify us and we will provide aluminum gangways so you can enter more easily.

Yes, this is possible. At our largest location, the Rotterdam Rijnhaven, you can stay with max. 34 people if all 5 Wikkelboats are still available. To book this you will have to book per Wikkelboat…or mail us with a special request so we can make one booking and payment link. At our other locations a maximum of 10 (Wijnhaven) or 12 (Den Bosch) can stay. We also have our unique ship De Coaster on which we can welcome 12 guests. By water cab you can commute within 5 minutes between Rijnhaven and Wijnhaven.

Yes, you can bring up to 2 small or 1 large pets but the condition is that they are house trained, well behaved and do not cause any damage. In addition, you must book your pet(s) in advance via our web app or directly with your booking with us. The supplement for this is €30 per pet per stay.

Unfortunately, swimming is officially prohibited at all of our locations. Do you still want to take a leap to cool off? That is entirely at your own risk. Take a shower afterwards and watch carefully for any boating traffic.

Each Wikkelboat is equipped with a state-of-the-art heating and air conditioning system which you can control to your own liking. So very comfortable both in winter and in summer:-)
